About Guangzhou

As the capital of Guangdong province, People's Republic of China, Guangzhou is a center for politics, the economy, technology, education and culture. Located in the southeast of the province, Guangzhou is in the north of the Pearl River Delta near Hong Kong and Macao. It is the South China's central transportation hub and trading port as well as the "south gate" in China.

Guangzhou is a sub-tropical city close to the Tropic of Cancer with mild weather and abundant rainfall. The four seasons are evergreen thus Guangzhou's nickname: "The City of Flowers."



Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center

It is an area featured by higher education institutions, located inXiaoguwei Island  in Panyu District, Guangzhou, China. It was opened in 2004. With an area of approximately 17.9 km2 and 3.53 millions square meters of indoor space, the complex is capable of accommodating 350 to 400 thousand people.


Ten local higher education institutions set up campuses on the island with a total of 120,000 students. All except Guangzhou University (which was relocated to the Mega Centre) maintain their old campuses within the city.
