China-U.S. People-to-People and Cultural Exchanges Special Scholarship
This program is set up to implement the “Outline of China’s National Plan for Medium and Long-term Education Reform and Development”, to carry into execution the “Plan for Studying in China”, to keep company with the goal by the American government for the “100,000 Strong” Initiative (a national effort designed to increase dramatically the number of American students studying in China) put forward by U.S. President Barack Obama during his visit to China in 2009, and to encourage the Sino-American institutions of higher learning to establish and deepen their cooperative relationships and attract more American young students to come to China for their study programs.
- Amount
Full Scholarship for MA/MS Candidates:
Free Application Fees, Free Tuition, Free Accommodation (a bed in room shared by 2 to 4 people), Free Group Medical Insurance (including Accidental Injury and Hospitalization), Living Stipend: RMB1,700/person/month, Settlement Fee:RMB1,500/one-time and Learning Materials Fee: RMB500/person/year.
Full Scholarship for Ph. D Candidates:
Free Application Fees, Free Tuition, Free Accommodation (a bed in room shared by 2 people), Free Group Medical Insurance (including Accidental Injury and Hospitalization), Living Stipend: RMB2,000/person/month, Settlement Fee:RMB1,500/one-time and Learning Materials Fee: RMB500/person/year.
Scholarship for Credit Students (non-degree):
Tuition waiver. They will have to bear other expenses.
- Eligible Candidates
1.Application for the Scholarship for Credit Students (non-degree) Program
for 2011.
2.Copies of formally signed exchange agreement by the university level.
3.The application information materials submitted by the program students who
have completed their applications on the on-lined application platform by the CSC (laihua.csc.edu.cn).
- Application Procedures
1.The candidates should be recommended by schools or colleges and the name lists
should be reported to the Office for International Students’ Affairs before December 5 and May 30.
2.The candidates should visit the website of the China Scholarship Council (CSC)
and submit their application information on the on-lined application platform by the CSC (laihua.csc.edu.cn). Download the “Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship” , print them out and sign them. The application will not be accepted by the CSC without the on-lined application.
The procedure is as follows:
Register on the CSC website -- Login -- Fill in the Application Form -- Select the Application Form for the “Chinese Government Scholarship” -- Put in the Personal Data (the first item of “Agency No. ” for Sun Yat-sen University is “10558” ) -- Put in the other Data -- Submit the Application Form -- Print out the completed form for two copies)-- Sign the Application Form -- Send the printed application form to the host schools together with the other papers such as Diplomas and transcripts and so on before the deadline.

3.Lists for the candidates (including their majors and categories) will be reported to
